The American College of Preventive Medicine is a professional society for physicians dedicated to prevention. ACPM provides leadership in research, professional education, development of public policy, and enhancement of standards of preventive medicine for and on behalf of our members.

ACPM Mission

Preventive medicine is practiced by all physicians to keep their patients healthy. Preventive medicine specialists are trained in both clinical medicine and public health, and are equipped to understand and reduce the risks of disease, disability, and death in individuals and in population groups.

New Video Module on Medicare DPP Covered Service
March 16, 2017

The American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) has partnered with the Florida Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) to create a video module on the newly expanded Medicare Preventive Covered Service for the DPP. In the video, ACPM Associate Executive Director Dani Pere provides an overview of the Medicare rulemaking process, finalized Medicare DPP policies taking effect in 2018, and future rulemaking expectations. Continuing education credits for this and other modules on diabetes prevention will be made available by USF Health through August 2017.

AMA Profiles on Preventive Medicine Specialists

The American Medical Association, as part of AMA Wire's "Shadow Me" series, published profiles on ACPM President Dan Blumenthal and ACPM President-Elect Bob Carr describing their work as preventive medicine specialists. The profiles delve into their (a)typical days and how working in preventive medicine and public health has continued to challenge and excite them.

Diabetes Prevention Webinar Series
Spring 2017

ACPM and the Council for Diabetes Prevention invite you to participate in the March Webinar Series on the National Diabetes Prevention Program. Webinars will explore the program's history and evidence base, coverage by Medicare and other providers, and implementation steps and advice for physicians. A free registration is required to participate.

Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies Program
CME/MOC Education

Developed by ACPM and ACLM, the Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies Program is an evidence-based online program designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for doctors as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, health coaches, and other allied health professionals with an interest in learning the basic foundational principles of lifestyle medicine. Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is available for select medical specialties.
