The American College of Preventive Medicine is a professional society for physicians dedicated to prevention. ACPM provides leadership in research, professional education, development of public policy, and enhancement of standards of preventive medicine for and on behalf of our members.

Preventive medicine is practiced by all physicians to keep their patients healthy. Preventive medicine specialists are trained in both clinical medicine and public health, and are equipped to understand and reduce the risks of disease, disability, and death in individuals and in population groups.

ACPM is Seeking a Lifestyle Medicine Program Director
ANNOUNCMENT – June 13, 2018

ACPM is seeking a Program Director to manage ACPM's grant work funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention related to the Diabetes Prevention Program, and assist with ACPM's Lifestyle Medicine programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting all project deliverables, and acting as the primary contact for all CDC activities related to the Lifestyle Medicine grant.

ACPM Announces Next Executive Director
RELEASE – May 24, 2018

The American College of Preventive Medicine announces the appointment of Donna Grande as Executive Director, effective as of May 21, 2018. Ms. Grande joins the College with over 25 years experience leading disease prevention and health promotion initiatives and campaigns. "She will be a real force advancing the practice of preventive medicine in her new role and I'm delighted to have her on our team," said Dr. Stephanie Zaza, Chair of the ACPM Executive Director Search Committee and President-elect of the ACPM Board of Regents.

Population-Based Strategies to Address Gun Violence, Diabetes and Opioid Epidemic Highlight Upcoming Preventive Medicine 2018 Conference
MEDIA ADVISORY – May 17, 2018

ACPM will host Preventive Medicine 2018, May 23–26, for more than 600 medical professionals dedicated to disease prevention and public health. Organized around the theme "Prevention at the Nexus of Health System Transformation," the meeting will feature evidence-based, population health approaches to addressing the opioid epidemic, diabetes prevention, gun violence, human trafficking, and many more high-priority public health issues.

ACPM Secures Support for Advocacy Priorities in FY19
Policy News – April 30, 2018

After a busy spring in the Congressional appropriations process, ACPM had strong gains with its Dear Colleague letter campaigns in support of restoring funding to $11.136 million for preventive medicine residency programs and increasing funding for the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) to $23.5 million—enough to allow the program to expand to all 50 states and the District of Columbia for the first time.

Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies Program
CME/MOC Education

Developed by ACPM and ACLM, the Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies Program is an evidence-based online program designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for doctors as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, health coaches, and other allied health professionals with an interest in learning the basic foundational principles of lifestyle medicine. Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is available for select medical specialties.

Webinar – March 17, 2018

The ACPM Young Physicians Section recently hosted a webinar on "Lifestyle Medicine Clinic Implementation: Billing & Finances" in which ACPM Board member Dr. Wayne S. Dysinger presented on the financial and clinical considerations of setting up a lifestyle medicine practice. Dysinger reviewed examples of billing and reimbursements models in traditional and emerging payment settings, as well as patient care models that include group visits. No CME is available for this webinar.
