As we reach the final months of the year, I find that the change in seasons inspires me not just to pull out my fall wardrobe and hot chocolate, but also to reflect and begin to mentally prepare for next year’s new beginning. I usually take some time to think about how I’ve grown and navigated my personal and professional journey in the past year. Renewing my membership in ACPM, yes, is a practical decision, but also is a deeply personal one that ties directly into my desire for growth and sense of fulfillment. I’d like to share a few reasons why I continue to maintain my membership and hope some of these will ring true for you as well.
Fuel for Personal GrowthMembership in ACPM provides access to resources that have helped me grow professionally and personally. Attending the annual conference inspires me to think differently and boldly, be more creative in my professional endeavors, and often times serves to challenge my perspectives. By renewing my
membership, I am committing to nurturing my sense of curiosity and expanding my horizons.
Building Meaningful Connections
ACPM is my professional home, and as such, it connects me with all of you - a community of individuals who share my passions and values. These connections have led to enriching friendships, mentorships and collaborations, and being a part of this supportive network has allowed me a space within which to share my experiences, celebrate my successes and navigate some unique challenges.
Embracing New Challenges
Being a member of ACPM has afforded me opportunities to push myself out of my comfort zone – through leadership opportunities, conference speaking engagements, and networking sessions. These experiences have helped me build my confidence in new ways and provided me with a meaningful sense of accomplishment.
Finding My Passion
Preventive Medicine is a field in which your passions and creativity have a home. The more involved I have become with ACPM, the more I have discovered what truly excites me. Whether it's contributing to a conference session or collaborating on a new approach to member engagement, these experiences have ignited a sense of purpose that spills over into other areas of my life. Renewing my membership allows me to continue this journey of self-discovery and fulfillment.
A Sense of Belonging
In our busy lives, finding a place where you truly belong can be challenging but also so rewarding. At ACPM, I have always had a space to share my thoughts, ideas, and challenges without judgment. Renewing my membership reinforces my commitment to this community, allowing me to engage with like-minded physicians who understand and uplift me. This sense of belonging is profoundly fulfilling, reminding me that I’m not alone in my journey.
Did any of these reasons resonate with you? Perhaps you have other reasons to renew your commitment to the College and our community. I’d love to hear some of your unique reasons and invite you to reach out and connect with me (on ACPM Pulse or just through email!) so we can support and inspire each other as we begin to enter a new and exciting year together.
