ACPM, as a member of the Coalition for Trust in Health & Science, is dedicated to confronting health information that is false, inaccurate or misleading according to the best available evidence at the time to benefit individual and public health.

The Coalition for Trust in Health & Science, comprised of more than 70 organizations with wide representation of American health and health-related science, advances, amplifies and disseminates knowledge combating misinformation and mistrust surrounding health information. Preventive medicine physicians are frontline warriors in the ongoing fight against health misinformation, with the skills to decipher complex health data and confront information that is false, inaccurate or misleading according to the best available evidence at the time to benefit individual and public health. 

In 2021, Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy, M.D., M.B.A. issued an Advisory on Building a Healthy Information Environment. "Health misinformation is a serious threat to public health. It can cause confusion, sow mistrust, harm people's health, and undermine public health efforts." 

The Coalition for Trust in Health & Science is taking measures to identify and correct health misinformation.
