This past weekend I heard a sermon about “the right time.”  It made me pause and reflect on the past few years and look ahead to what we have on the ACPM agenda for 2022. We have accomplished much since 2018 and still have a few more upgrades underway to establish what I believe is a firm foundation upon which to launch new innovative actions.  Despite what we are doing behind the scenes to position the organization for swift and efficient action in the 21st century, I believe this is “the right time” for bold external facing action to position preventive medicine for an impactful future.

To best position ACPM members for your own individual impactful future, I have a few reflective questions to pose. Have you paused to reflect on the year behind you and what lies ahead for you personally and professionally?  Are you grounded in your life purpose and clear on your horizon line?  There is no better time than the beginning of a year (or end of the year) to pause, reflect and journal your thoughts, list your accomplishments and articulate your goals for the short-and long-term future.  Is there a new course you want to take (check out our educational portfolio here) or do you want to sharpen your skills in lifestyle medicine?  The new updates to the Lifestyle Medicine Core Competencies (LMCC) course are now live and ready for purchase here.  Are you interested in exploring new job opportunities that will fully enable you to step into your purpose with greater clarity?  Check out our ACPM Career Center resources here.  Are you interested in your legacy for the College and making an impact on the next generation of preventive medicine physicians?  Make a donation or contribution to the Future Leaders campaign to enable medical students and residents to receive travel scholarships to attend the annual conference here.  Also, if you want to share your career highlights and “tell your story” to inspire the next generation, please also complete the following form to have your post added to our website.  There are many ways for you to be engaged with the College and we want to be sure you are well aware of the resources available to make the most of your membership.

As we enter the second month of the year, it is with gratitude for our staff, appreciation for our volunteer leaders, and joy for our amazing members that I continue to say, Happy New Year—Happy Lunar New Year, Happy Black History Month and…

Happy Day,
Donna
