Samar Muzaffar, MD, MPH, FACPMASSISTANT SECRETARY, CALIFORNIA HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY
Dr. Muzaffar currently serves as an Assistant Secretary for the California Health and Human Services Agency, appointed in October 2019. She has experience as a health systems and population health consultant through Integrated Health Solutions, LLC.
Prior to this, she served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Missouri Department of Social Services’ MO HealthNet Division, Missouri's Medicaid program, which she joined in 2011 as Medical Director until her departure in 2018. Before joining MO HealthNet, Dr. Muzaffar worked in parallel as an intensivist and for state public health and then transitioned to serving full-time as the state EMS Medical Director for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Dr. Muzaffar’s post-graduate medical training includes three years of general surgery followed by a surgical critical care fellowship and training in preventive medicine. She is board certified in Preventive Medicine, a Diplomat of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, and Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.
