Global Preventive Medicine Group

The Global Preventive Medicine Group (GPMG) looks to develop interest in and work within the GPM arena, transcending national boundaries. This includes expanding our discipline of PM globally, developing GPM opportunities for Preventive Medicine Residents, and informing members on timely public health issues affecting global populations; the GPMG is dedicated to providing leadership and direction to its diverse cadre of members interested/working in GPM. We are open to Full, Associate, Resident, Medical Student, Emeritus/Retired and Subscriber members of ACPM with a GPM interest; no formal GPM training is necessary.

Objectives

  1. Create and foster awareness of global preventive medicine (GPM) issues among ACPM colleagues and the overall medical community;
  2. Provide a forum for timely discussion and potential action to influence GPM advocacy, direct service, policy, and other means;
  3. Serve as a community of practice for those interested in and working in GPM through creating opportunities to become involved in initiatives;
  4. Provide GPM learning opportunities in on/offline courses, rotations and volunteer opportunities.
  5. Support the global development of Preventive Medicine as a discipline;
  6. Develop partnerships with like-minded organizations in other countries; and
  7. Promote joint projects between ACPM members and individuals in other countries.
