Overview

ACPM is a professional medical society of more than 2,000 physicians dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of individuals, families, communities and populations through disease prevention and health promotion. Since 1954, ACPM has provided a dynamic forum for the exchange of knowledge and practice advancement for preventive medicine specialists. We are the organization advocating for the important role of preventive medicine in our healthcare system to promote healthy lifestyles and population health.

This is Preventive Medicine

Preventive medicine physicians bring a unique skill set to healthcare. With training in both clinical medicine and public health, they work at the intersections of our healthcare system, combining clinical practice with a population-level perspective.

The American College of Preventive Medicine supports the next generation of physicians trained in population health competencies, dedicated to the care of populations and communities, and ready to transform our healthcare system into one that prioritizes prevention. The This is Preventive Medicine campaign is about centering the skills, expertise and experience of preventive medicine physicians in the consciousness of policymakers, medical students, hosptials, health systems and more.
