Preventive Medicine Amplified

ACPM's #PrevMedAmplified campaign formally concluded recently when we reached our $35,000 fundraising goal, but its mission to raise visibility for preventive medicine continues in earnest.

We will continue to accept donations this summer and will quickly put the funds to use this fall as we begin building a full-throated, comprehensive communications plan involving a messaging platform and toolkit, informational webinars promoting preventive medicine, and spokesperson training opportunities.

These efforts will advance the Board's goals to elevate the brands of preventive medicine and ACPM, reach out to health care leaders, and improve recruitment of medical school students. We can no longer sit on the sidelines—the health of too many relies on our expertise and passion. We must be proactive to ensure our voices are heard and understood.

Thank you all for supporting this campaign and for being excellent stewards of the specialty in your day jobs and through your service to ACPM's ever-growing groups, activities, and initiatives.

Strategic Communications

Your contributions will help ACPM develop communication campaigns designed to:

  • Elevate the brand of ACPM and Preventive Medicine, and provide members with tools to communicate the value of preventive medicine in their own health systems, communities, and institutions.
  • Reach out to and educate hospital executives, recruiting firms, insurance companies, accountable care organizations, and integrated delivery networks about the unique role preventive medicine physicians play in leading health system transformation.
  • Increase awareness of the preventive medicine specialty among medical schools and medical students.

Once we reach our fundraising goal, ACPM leadership will be equipped to conduct the following activities:

  • Message Research Session – Conduct a meeting with a core group of ACPM members
  • Message Survey – Conduct a survey of a core group of leaders outside of ACPM
  • Message Platform Development – Analyze insights from the research session and survey to develop a comprehensive message platform
  • Message Toolkit – Develop an arsenal of messages, elevator pitches, and case studies illustrating the value and practice of lifestyle medicine
  • In-Person Training – Conduct an in-depth training program for individuals who will champion the lifestyle medicine specialty
  • Webinar Series – Develop a set of webinars to teach ACPM members how to use the message toolkit to increase awareness for preventive medicine and visibility for ACPM
