Join us on Wed., Oct. 24 at 9 pm EDT for a Young Physician Section (YPS)-sponsored webinar titled "The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps."The U.S. Public Health Service is one of the nation's seven uniformed services, and its mission is to protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of the nation. CAPT Paul Jung, MD, MPH, Population Health Practice Track chair of PM’13, will present an overview of the USPHS, its administrative structure within the Department of Health and Human Services, and various career opportunities available to medical officers within USPHS.After a 45-minute presentation there will be 15 minutes of Q/A moderated by David Shih, MD, MS, FACPM, YPS Chair-Elect.

CAPT Paul Jung is an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service and currently serves as Chief of Staff for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and Chair of the Physicians Professional Advisory Committee to the U.S. Surgeon General. CAPT Jung’s prior assignments include details as Public Health Investigator to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce and Chief of Epidemiology to the Peace Corps.

This presentation is part of the ACPM YPS webinar series. YPS membership is open to all ACPM members under the age of 40 or within 8 years of residency completion. ACPM is the national professional society for physicians who specialize in preventive medicine. Preventive medicine specialists are uniquely trained in both clinical medicine and public health and serve in leadership positions throughout the country and internationally. They practice in a variety of health settings—including state and local health departments, federal agencies, hospitals, health plans, community and migrant health centers, industrial sites, occupational health centers, academic centers, private practice, and the military.
