Olugbenga (Gbenga) Obasanjo, MBBS, PhD, MPH, MBA, FACPMDistrict Health Director, District 4 Public Health, Georgia Department of Health
Dr. Obasanjo serves as the district health director for District 4 Public Health in LaGrange, Georgia.
Dr. Obasanjo previously worked with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria and as a consultant to Nigerian governments and private industry on HIV prevention. He has also worked as a medical officer with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as a physician in Prince William County in northern Virginia, and took a tour of duty in the Middle East with the U.S. Army as a preventive medicine officer.
He earned a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and earned a Master of Public Health and Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University, gaining experience as an epidemiologist with the Maryland Department of Health during his doctoral studies. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and returned to Johns Hopkins University, where he completed his residency training in public health and preventive medicine.
