Paul Bonta is the associate executive director for policy and government affairs for the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM). He is responsible for promoting and advancing ACPM’s legislative advocacy agenda in the executive and legislative branches of government. Additionally, Mr. Bonta leads new policy development activities at the College and collaborates with likeminded stakeholder organizations to advance the ACPM mission.

Prior to joining ACPM in July 2006, Mr. Bonta spent 4 years at the American College of Cardiology followed by 4 years at the American Academy of Dermatology where he worked to advance issues of interest to the house of medicine. Mr. Bonta also spent 2 years at the Association of American Medical Colleges where he led an effort to reinstate federal funding cuts to our nation’s teaching hospitals following passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

Mr. Bonta began his career in health policy as a staff member in the U.S. House of Representatives. After a four-year stint on Capitol Hill he joined the private sector.

Mr. Bonta earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 1990 and his Masters degree from Catholic University in 1997.
