Preventive Medicine 2006 is right around the corner, so if you haven’t signed up, STOP…go immediately to www.PreventiveMedicine2006.org and register for the meeting!  Here’s why…

You will hear from a stellar group of speakers including David Eddy, MD, PhD, internationally known expert in evidence-based medicine; Kenneth Kizer, MD, MPH, CEO, Medsphere Systems Corp. and former CEO of the National Quality Forum; and Carolyn Clancy, MD, Director, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

No matter what your particular focus in preventive medicine or public health, you will find sessions to meet your needs.  Concurrent programs include topics on: clinical preventive medicine, health policy, chronic disease and risk factors, pandemic influenza, quality improvement, maternal & child health, information technology, and much more.

You can immerse yourself in a practice area by signing up for a Skill-Building Institute on quality improvement, public health policy, mental health, or public health practice.

You’ll be able to reconnect with friends and colleagues and network with hundreds of others dedicated to preventive medicine from all sectors: public health practice, clinical settings, business, academia, and the military.

For those in training, Preventive Medicine 2006 is a great place to learn about career options and even to find a real job!

You can get involved in College activities including policy development by attending business meetings and by becoming active in one or more committees.  You can also participate in meetings of the ACPM Medical Student Section, Association of Preventive Medicine Residents, Young Physicians’ Section, American Association of Public Health Physicians, and the American College of Medical Quality.

Finally, those in preventive medicine work hard and play hard!  Enjoy one of the many receptions and social hours at the meeting and the gala Awards Banquet.  And don’t forget your skis, snowboards, and snowshoes!  Reno is very close to world-class winter resorts.
