Practice Policy Statements

ACPM's Prevention Practice Committee coordinates the development of practice policy statements in areas of concern to College members. Practice policy statements provide guidance to clinicians.

Short practice policy statements briefly state the official position of the College and its underlying rationale. Detailed analysis of supporting data, although essential to making evidence-based recommendations, is not recapitulated in practice policy statements because such critical appraisals are already available in other, more appropriate references (e.g., U.S. Preventive Services Task Force's Guide to Clinical Preventive Services). The statements are designed to complement the College's public policy statements, which assess the efficacy and value of public health policies implemented at the local, state, national or international levels.
