Request an Endorsement
Share |

The Board of Regents, or Executive Committee when necessary, will consider endorsements of candidates for nomination to nationally-elected councils, committees, and boards, and to appointed federal, state, or local health-related offices.

Strong preference will be given to ACPM members/fellows, including those in-training (i.e., residents and medical students), particularly those who have demonstrated a clear history of service to ACPM. However, any physician or former member may be considered at the Board's discretion.

Only those candidates formally asking for an endorsement will be considered. Candidates must submit to the Board a formal letter requesting endorsement, a description of the position for which endorsement is being requested, a copy of their CV, and a completed questionnaire at least two months prior to endorsement deadline.*

The Board/Executive Committee will consider all qualified candidates formally requesting an endorsement from ACPM, but may opt to endorse none, some, or all candidates for any particular position at its discretion. As a general rule, the Board/EC will endorse no more than the available number of positions, unless multiple nominees are requested by the sponsoring organization. The Board/EC may consider requests for endorsement as requests are submitted, and will notify candidates of endorsement in a timely manner.

The Board/EC shall consider only candidates with the following qualifications:

  1. Although strong preference will be given to ACPM members, any qualified applicants may apply for endorsement
  2. Should be eligible and have experience relevant for office or position sought and preferably have served local or national professional societies; and
  3. Should have knowledge of ACPM as an organization representing the medical specialty, and an understanding of preventive medicine issues within the organization for which endorsement is requested.

*Shorter time frames may be accommodated in unusual circumstances.
