ACPM Member Types

MEMBER

Physicians who are board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM), or other American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board, or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), are eligible for Full Membership. Members may vote, but are not eligible to hold office in the College. The fee includes a print subscription to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM).

2013 Annual membership dues are $350.

 



FELLOW (FACPM)

Physicians who have served at the full MEMBER level for at least three years, are in good standing for the three years prior to applying for Fellowship, and have actively served in the specialty and ACPM, will be considered for Fellowship (FACPM). Note: You may not become an ACPM Fellow simply by completing an online application. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements outlined in the paragraph above AND provide supporting documentation of credentials, accomplishments; etc.

ACPM Members may advance to fellowship by completing a supplemental Fellowship application, supporting documentation, and non-refundable application fee of $50. ACPM’s Membership Committee reviews all applications for fellowship bi-annually. Upon election by the ACPM Membership Committee, candidates are inducted into the College as Fellows. Fellows may vote and are eligible to hold office in the College. The fee includes a subscription to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM).

MEDICAL STUDENT

Medical students who are interested in learning more about Preventive Medicine may join the Medical Student Section (MSS). A one-time fee of $30 covers membership for four years of medical school. Medical students may not vote in ACPM's Board of Regents election, but may vote and hold office in the Medical Student Section (MSS). The fee includes an online subscription to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM).

2013 Annual membership dues are $30 (covers dues for the duration of medical school).

 




RESIDENT

Residents are eligible for Resident Membership throughout their residency training, and for one transitional year after. Resident members may vote and hold office in the Resident Physician Section (RPS). The fee includes a print subscription to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM).

Note: If you are considering pursuing Fellowship in the College, it is advisable to move into the [full] Member category (see top of page), once you have passed your boards. Fellows must have three years at the full member level. Resident membership is not counted toward that time requirement.

2013 Annual membership dues are $75.

 



AFFILIATE

Recent graduates of residency programs are eligible for Affiliate membership. Affiliate members may remain in this category for a maximum of three years following residency training. Affiliates may vote, but are not eligible to hold office. The fee includes a print subscription to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM).

Note: If you are considering pursuing Fellowship in the College, it is advisable to move into the [full] Member category (see top of page), once you have passed your boards. Fellows must have three years at the full member level. Affiliate membership is not counted toward that time requirement.

2013 Annual membership dues are $165.

 




ASSOCIATE

Physicians who are not board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM), an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board, or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and physicians who live or have received training abroad with credentials that are difficult to evaluate, are eligible for Associate Membership. Associate members may remain in this category indefinitely. Associates are eligible to vote, but may not hold office within the College. The fee includes a print subscription to the American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM).

Note: Associate members are not eligible for ACPM Fellowship. Fellows must be certified by certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM), an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board, or American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

EMERITUS MEMBERSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP

Fellows, Members and Associate Members who have held membership in the College for at least five years, are at least 65 years of age, and retired from active practice are eligible for Emeritus status. When retirement from active practice is due to physical disability, the Board of Regents may waive the time and age requirements. Emeritus Members and Fellows are not eligible to vote or to hold office.

2013 Annual membership dues (with the AJPM subscription) are $70.

2013 Annual membership dues (without the AJPM subscription) are $20.
