Review of the USPSTF draft Recommendation Statement on Screening for Pancreatic Cancer: Recommendations and Rationale.

BY: Gabe Feldman, MD, MPH, MBA, MHA, FACPM

FOR: The American College of Preventive Medicine

DATE: September 5, 2003

I have reviewed the statement and rationale. It is well reasoned, wholly supported by the evidence, and consistent with prior statements & current thinking among cancer controllers.

The authors might consider adding notes on the disease's unusual ethnic rate disparity (much less common in African Americans than Caucasians), & the ongoing research into risk factor elucidation (diet, obesity, substance use, etc.).
