American College
of Preventive Medicine
Membership Committee Report
February 2001
Chair: Miriam
Alexander
Staff: Jennifer Edwards
The Membership Committee is
pleased to share with the Board of Regents the following
membership information. The numbers reflect data available up to
2/7/01.
Membership Data:
Since the start of the membership
year, 59 new members have joined ACPM (as of 2/7/01). This does
not include 28 physicians who paid for the New Member package
offered to Preventive Medicine 2001 attendees. These individuals
still need to complete membership applications and receive
approval from the Membership Committee.
Three renewal invoices have been
mailed to ACPM members resulting in $308,405 being collected. Two
more invoices will be mailed in the near future. ACPM Board
members will be called up to contact the delinquent members. As
was recommended at the November Board meeting, beginning with
Preventive Medicine 2002 we will give members the opportunity to
renew their membership at the same time that they register for the
annual meeting.
Recruitment Efforts:
ACPM will offer a free
"six-month" promotional membership to those physicians
who have recently passed the ABPM boards.
Upcoming Membership Recruitment
Activities:
We will soon send letters to
former ACPM members encouraging them to re-join the College and
take advantage of our expanded offering of services. We will also
send recruitment materials to physicians who have achieved
certification in preventive medicine in the last several years but
have not joined ACPM. We also plan to explore test mailings to
subsets of physicians in other specialty societies or among MD/MPH’s
not certified in preventive medicine. We are currently reviewing
the exhibitor information for annual meetings of several other
specialty societies to plan our exhibiting schedule.
New Staff:
ACPM is pleased to welcome David
Dauphinais as our new Membership Assistant. David is already
proving to be a valuable asset to ACPM in only his first week on
the job. David comes to ACPM after working at Partnership for
Prevention.
