Learn about progress made toward achieving the Healthy People 2020 Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Leading Health Indicators. You’ll also hear how the Delaware Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Obesity Prevention Program uses a public health approach to address the role of physical activity and nutrition in improving health and preventing chronic diseases for all Delawareans.

About Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity
Good nutrition, physical activity, and a healthy body weight are essential parts of a person’s overall health and well-being. Together, these can help decrease a person’s risk of developing serious health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. A healthful diet, regular physical activity, and achieving and maintaining a healthy weight also are paramount to managing health conditions so they do not worsen over time.

About Healthy People 2020 Leading Health Indicators
The Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) represent a smaller set of Healthy People 2020 objectives selected to communicate high-priority health issues and actions to help address them. LHIs are used to assess the health of the Nation, facilitate collaboration across sectors, and motivate action to improve the health of the U.S. population.
