Join us to hear from Dr. John Kelly, Jr., and Dr. James Loomis, Jr., two prominent thought leaders in lifestyle medicine, as they share their personal journeys in living and practicing this work.Specifically, they will discuss:

  • How lifestyle medicine enables physicians to prevent and treat chronic disease often more effectively and less expensively than drugs and surgery
  • Howdeploying the science of health behavior change can get patients more engaged in maintaining and improving their own health

Presenters

 

John H. Kelly, Jr., MD, MPH

Dr. Kelly completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude as a McMurran Scholar. He completed the Dual MD/MPH Degree Program at Loma Linda with honors. He is board certified in Preventive Medicine and has done private and government-funded research in Lifestyle Medicine. He was founding President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and serves as adjunct faculty at two medical schools. He currently practices Lifestyle Medicine in Rocky Mount, Virginia.

 

James F. Loomis, Jr., MD

Dr. Loomis received his M.D. degree from the University of Arkansas; he subsequently completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Loomis received a MBA from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. He is board certified in internal medicine and is on the clinical faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Loomis has served as team internist for the St. Louis Rams football team and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, as well as tour physician for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He currently practices internal medicine at St. Luke's hospital, where he also serves as Director of Prevention and Wellness.
