(YPS)-sponsored webinar entitled "Opportunities to Practice Preventive
Medicine in Industry.” This is a panel discussion among preventive
medicine physicians with diverse careers including health care corporations,
pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and health care consulting. The
target audience is those seeking more exposure to the specialty of preventive
medicine. The session will start with a brief introduction followed by each
panelist's overview of their career path. The latter half of the session will
be devoted to discussion and Q/A moderated by Katrina Rhodes, MD, MS, FACPM,
YPS Regent to ACPM Board of Regents.
Halley S. Faust, MD, MPH, MA, FACPM, FACPE is a board-certified
preventive medicine physician who currently works in bioethics and venture
capital. Dr. Faust manages Jerome Capital, LLC, a venture capital fund
and in 2011 co-edited the book Prevention vs. Treatment: What’s the Right
Balance? Dr. Faust has previously worked with venture capital fund
Medmax Ventures, LLC (1991-2000), as an HMO manager (HealthAmerica Corporation
1983-1986), as a health insurance manager (Aetna Employee Benefits Division
1987-1991), and as founder and director of the health care consulting firm
Health Analysts, Inc. (1979-1983), and co-founded the Preventive Medicine
Center of Ann Arbor. Dr. Faust has held numerous past positions with ACPM
and is currently ACPM Present-Elect and Chair of the Committee on Ethics.
Bob Carr, MD, MPH, FACPM is a
board-certified preventive medicine physician who currently works as Senior
Vice President and Corporate Medical Director of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
Dr. Carr has been with the company for 25 years and currently leads the
Environment Health & Safety function for GSK worldwide. Dr. Carr’s
primary focus is on enhancing health and sustainable performance of GSK’s
workforce while ensuring zero harm to its people and our planet. Prior to
GlaxoSmithKline, Dr. Carr was an officer in the USAF Surgeon General’s Office
on Disease Prevention & Health Promotion. Dr. Carr also currently
serves on numerous professional and community boards including the Dean’s
Advisory Board of the Drexel School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins
Bloomberg School of Public Health.

careers, residents, and medical students are encouraged to attend. ACPM
is the national professional society for physicians who specialize in
preventive medicine. YPS membership is open to all ACPM members under the
age of 40 or within 8 years of residency completion.
