Case
Studies in Environmental Medicine: Pediatric
Environmental Health; Environmental Triggers of Asthma
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This session provides an
overview of pediatric environmental health and the environmental
triggers of asthma. The session experts discuss these topics
on two new ATSDR Case Studies in Environmental Medicine. In
addition, the session includes an overview of the Case Studies
library and a question and answer period.
At the end of the session, the
user will be able to:
1. List several reasons why
children might display a differential susceptibility to
environmental chemicals.
2. Identify two strategies that a physician might use to
reduce exposure to an environmental chemical.
3. Recognize the environmental triggers and risk factors for
asthma, and how they differ between childhood and adult-onset
asthma.
4. Understand the importance of taking an exposure history
to a successful asthma diagnosis.
5. Describe and know how to use the ATSDR case studies on
pediatric environmental health, environmental triggers of asthma
and other resources from the Case Studies in Environmental
Medicine library.
