Program Description: The University of
Michigan Preventive
Medicine Residency training program is
offered in two formats
which are designed to meet the needs of
distinct groups of
trainees. The first format is a
traditional, full-time residency in
which residents complete an MPH degree and
practicum in 23
months. The second training format is a
practicum-only
program, where physicians holding a Master
of Public Health
degree may apply exclusively for the
practicum year of the
program. Practicum-only residencies are
completed in 12
months.
All
practicum rotations require travel.
Rotation sites include
the Michigan Department of Community
Health, Ingham
County Health Department, and Michigan
Public Health
Institute in Lansing, MI; Washtenaw County
Public Health in
Ypsilanti, MI; Foundation for a Healthy
Community in Jackson,
MI; and Henry Ford Health System in
Detroit, MI.
