Description:
The Occupational Medicine Residency
Program at the University of Iowa offers
strong interdisciplinary training within
the Heartland Center for Occupational
Health and Safety, the newest NIOSH-funded
Education and Research Center (ERC).
Occupational Medicine residents earn the
MPH degree at our College of Public Health
during their academic year, training with
industrial hygiene, occupational health
nursing, agricultural health and safety,
ergonomics, and injury prevention graduate
students. Practicum year residents rotate
at major industrial settings, including
John Deere Company and Alcoa, as well as
comprehensive occupational health
clinics/practices, and strong outpatient
clinical rotations at our major teaching
hospital, the University of Iowa Hospitals
and Clinics. The educational program
provides flexibility for residents to
pursue their own career interests,
including clinical occupational medicine,
research and academic medicine in the
field of occupational medicine.
