the strengths of the University of
Colorado program are 1) the
thesis/publishable paper requirement for
the MSPH degree and 2) an accomplished and
dedicated pulmonary faculty at National
Jewish Center for Immunology and
Respiratory Medicine. Research
opportunities exist at both the
University's department of Preventive
Medicine and Biometrics (exposure
assessment, medical surveillance,
occupational injuries, cancer mortality
and morbidity studies) and at National
Jewish (beryllium disease, asthma,
hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and other
occupational lung conditions). Industrial
practicums include Lockheed-Martin and the
Rocky Flats former nuclear weapons plant.
Other practicums include the regional
NIOSH office, Colorado Department of
Health and Environment, and the Airline
Pilots Association. We seek applicants
with strong primary care training and an
interest in clinical research. Some of our
trainees have enrolled after beginning the
University of Colorado pulmonary
fellowship.
