Preventive Medicine Review Course

The 13th Annual ACPM Review Course will be held August 26-30 at the Marriott Crystal Gateway, Arlington, VA. Co-Directors Gershon Bergeisen, MD, MPH and Col. Eric Evenson, MD, MPH, promise another successful course with a refreshed, updated program which will reflect the new content outlines of the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

The five-day Review Course covers all areas of the certification examination. Sessions on biostatistics, epidemiology, health services administration, occupational medicine fundamentals, environmental health, injury epidemiology and prevention, clinical preventive services, chronic disease and infectious disease, and behavioral medicine form the core portion of the course. The specialty portion of the course is spent in breakout groups for public health/general preventive medicine, aerospace medicine, and occupational medicine.

ACPM certifies that this continuing medical education activity meets the criteria for up to

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The ACPM Preventive Medicine Review Course provides the only comprehensive framework for review and preparation for the certification examination of the American Board of Preventive Medicine. It is also an excellent opportunity to update, refresh, and review the field of preventive medicine. At the conclusion of the Preventive Medicine Review Course, the participant will be able to:

  • define the content areas of the specialty of preventive medicine
  • understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of biostatistics and epidemiology to the practice of preventive medicine
  • identify gaps in personal knowledge, understanding and application of the methods and content of preventive medicine
  • effectively prepare for the certifying examination in preventive medicine

CME
The American College of Preventive Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. ACPM designates this continuing medical education activity for up to 41 Category 1 credits toward the Physicians Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the ecuational activity. This course has been planned and presented for physicians in accordance with the ACCME Essentials and Standards for Continuing Medical Education.

This course has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 41 Prescribed credit hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Conveniently located minutes away from Washington Reagon National Airport in Arlington, VA, the Marriott provides complimentary shuttle bus service to and from National Airport. The special conference room rate is $119 plus tax for a single or double room. August 10th is the deadline to guarantee a room at the special rate. This rate is available to you for three days prior to and three days after the Review Course. The hotel has a fitness facility which includes an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool, weight machines, aerobic bicycles, free weights and locker rooms with showers and saunas. This comprehensive review and discussion of biostatistics and epidemiology held in conjunction with the 13th Annual ACPM Preventive Medicine Board Review Course. Two bonus sessions include clinical preventive services and behavioral medicine. The early registration deadline is June 30. Early registration fees are $264 for ACPM members and $339 for non-members. After June 30, registration fees will be $319 for ACPM members and $394 for non-members.
