EHE International and ACPM Honor Ron Davis, MD

EHE International and the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) are pleased to announce the launch of a window display at Rockefeller Center honoring the memory of ACPM Fellow and past American Medical Association President, Dr. Ron Davis.

The window, located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, will be presented to the public from April 1, 2009 – April 30, 2009.  “EHE is very pleased to be able to offer the American College of Preventive Medicine this window to honor a great humanitarian and wonderful physician.  Dr. Davis will forever be remembered as a pioneering physician dedicated to improving the nation’s health and welfare,” said Deb McKeever, EHE President.

“The window design compels the observer to consider a world where childhood obesity, emerging infectious diseases, and smoking related-deaths are a thing of the past.  The hope of this healthier world was Ron’s vision and passion and remains the mission of the American College of Preventive Medicine,” said Michael Parkinson, MD, MPH, FACPM, immediate past president of ACPM.

Dr. Davis’ life work was dedicated to improving public health via preventive medicine.  He was the recent past president of the American Medical Association, where he passionately and effectively used his platform as head of organized medicine to advance disease prevention and health promotion imperatives.  He also was the first director of the Office on Smoking and Health with the Centers for Disease Prevention and was a long serving Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.

To further honor Dr. Davis and advance his goals, the American College of Preventive Medicine created the Preventive Medicine Leadership Fund (PMLF).  The PMLF is dedicated to engaging aspiring and young physicians in health promotion and disease prevention careers.  For more information on the PMLF, please visit: www.acpm.org/pmlf.

The American College of Preventive Medicine is the national professional society for physicians committed to disease prevention and health promotion. ACPM's 2,400 physician members are engaged in preventive medicine practice, teaching and research. ACPM was established in 1954.
