Overview
The American College of Preventive Medicine is pleased to administer the Practicum Rotation in Adolescent Health and Preventive Medicine, based in Washington, DC at the office of the American College of Preventive Medicine. This program is intended to give preventive medicine residents an opportunity to participate in adolescent health education, research, and policy activities in Washington, DC.

Residents from across the country are encouraged to apply.  ACPM will help find housing options if needed.

Activities
Under this program, residents work at ACPM for two months. ACPM will work closely with each selected resident to tailor the resident’s activities so that they meet the objectives of both
ACPM and the resident.  The rotation will provide residents with exposure to the many policy bodies in Washington, DC, including Congress, federal health agencies, and non-governmental national health organizations, particularly to those events with an adolescent health focus. Examples of possible activities might include:

·          Developing policy resolutions, fact sheets, and other educational materials on emerging adolescent health issues,

·          Participating in PIPPAH grantee and National Coalition for Adolescent Health meetings and national health policy coalitions to which ACPM belongs,

·          Working with ACPM’s Adolescent Health Committee to identify and carry out high priority activities,

·          Developing topics for clinical guidelines around adolescent health,

·          Writing ACPM Headlines articles on adolescent health issues.

Under this program, ACPM will pay residency programs $3,750/month. Residency programs are responsible for stipend payments to residents

This program is supported in full by Grant #U45MC00064 from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau (Title V, Social Security Act), Office of Adolescent Health.
