ABPM announces new "Complimentary Pathway" to board certification
|
On April 7, the American Board of Preventive Medicine announced the approval of a new pathway to board certification. The Complimentary Pathway is designed to enable physicians to enter a career in Preventive Medicine after having completed two or more years in a different field of medicine. This accelerated pathway will require only one year of Preventive Medicine residency training, compared with two years in the traditional pathway; the traditional MPH requirement will be replaced by post-graduate courses in core areas. The Complementary Pathway aims to accommodate physicians who wish to make a mid-career shift into Preventive Medicine.

| ACPM invites residents to join committees |
One of the best ways you can get involved in ACPM is to join one of the many available committees. In particular, there is a need for volunteers on the Preventive Medicine 2011 Planning Committee. RPS President Sam Peik has taken the chair of the Career Development sub-track and is looking for members to help. The task of this track is to develop programming for sessions at PM 2011; the commitment would involve some conference calls, contacting speakers, and possibly moderating sessions.

Position opening: ACGME RRC member
|
The RPS is now taking applications for nominations to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Resident Review Committee (RRC).The RRC for Preventive Medicine will elect a new resident member later this year, and the RPS will supply two nominations for this process.The RRC reviews programs and provides input on policy discussion. If you wish to apply or want more information on the position and commitments, please contact David Dauphinais (ACPM staff) at ddauphinais@acpm.org. Applications will require a statement of interest, current CV, and two letters of recommendation.Deadline for submission isJune 1st, and RPS will notify applicants shortly after.
