ACPM's Prevention
Practice Committee coordinates the development of position statements. ACPM
position statements usually are published in ACPM’s journal, theAmerican
Journal of Preventive Medicine, other medical journals, and/or on ACPM’s
web site.
The purpose of the
position statements is to outline the College’s perspective on critical
preventive medicine issues—which often have been reviewed and analyzed by
entities outside of ACPM but may be controversial or lack clear guidance for
health practitioners—to exert a positive influence on policy, practice, and
research dealing with the subject of the statement.
