The American College of Preventive Medicine is a professional society for physicians dedicated to prevention. ACPM provides leadership in research, professional education, development of public policy, and enhancement of standards of preventive medicine for and on behalf of our members.

ACPM Mission

Preventive medicine is practiced by all physicians to keep their patients healthy. Preventive medicine specialists are trained in both clinical medicine and public health, and are equipped to understand and reduce the risks of disease, disability, and death in individuals and in population groups.

ACPM Joins Total Worker Health Program
April 29, 2016

ACPM is now an affiliate partner of the CDC's Total Worker Health program, administered by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. This affiliation will allow ACPM to broaden it's Lifestyle Medicine Initiative and offer more opportunities for members to engage with the Total Worker Health program in the advancement of worker safety, health, and well-being.

New PM Residency Training Program in Maine to Focus on Plant Based Nutrition

The Portland Press Herald published a recent story announcing the new Preventive Medicine Residency Training program at Maine Medical Center that will focus on plant based nutrition. ACPM Associate Executive Director, Paul Bonta, was quoted in the article, referencing the growing popularity of PMR programs as the next generations of physicians begin to focus more on prevention diseasing.
