Do you
have a burning issue on which you would like ACPM to take a position and/or
advocate? Then submit a policy resolution to the College.
Each year
ACPM issues a call to its members for policy resolutions in conjunction with its
annual Preventive Medicine meeting. The ACPM resolutions process
was launched as a way for members to take a more active role in the development
of ACPM policy positions and national preventive medicine advocacy.
A
resolution is a concise statement of the College’s position on a particular
issue and serves as a call to action for the organization and its members. It
describes and endorses a defined course of action directed toward a particular
individual, organization, event, or piece of legislation.
The ACPM Policy Committee and Board of Regents meets in person twice
each year—at the ACPM annual meeting in February and ACPM’s offices in
Washington, DC in the Fall—at which time resolutions will be reviewed and
considered for adoption. While a call to the membership for resolutions will be
issued only one time each year in conjunction with the ACPM annual meeting,
members are welcome to submit resolutions to the College at any time.
