ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section 1.01 Term. The officers shall be elected to a one-year term of service with the option of re-running in the same position if he/she chooses and is eligible. If a current officer would like to serve in another position on the Governing Council, he/she may run for another position as long as he/she remains eligible in accordance with Article IV.
Section 1.02 Length of term. The term will run April 1 of the election year to March 31 of the following year. Elections shall be conducted on an annual basis. Vacant positions for the coming year will be announced at the ACPM Annual Meeting in February and candidates will be voted into office within three weeks of the meeting.
Section 1.03 Nominations. The Council will solicit nominations from the entire RPS membership ("call for nominees") just prior to and during the Annual Meeting. Each nominee will submit his/her resume and a brief statement of interest formatted according to the instructions provided in the call for nominees to the Council President. These documents will be posted on the ACPM website for viewing by all RPS membership no later than two weeks after the meeting. Additional supportive documents will be permitted but not required.
Section 1.04 Election voting. All current members of the RPS as defined in Article IV will be eligible to vote for officers. The Council will present the statements of each candidate and a ballot, which each member may use to vote for officers. Voting will be done using an online system to be administered by ACPM staff. Voting will begin no later than two weeks following the Annual Meeting and will be open for one week. A majority of the returned ballots will be necessary to elect each officer.
Section 1.05 Tied elections. In the event of a tie between two or more candidates, the Council voting members will break the tie with a separate vote between these candidates.
Section 1.06 Transition. Newly elected officers assume full office April 1. To ensure a smooth transition, the April conference call will be attended by both current and new officers. This call will be run by the outgoing officers and will serve as an official change of leadership.
Section 1.07 Election Timeline. Summary:
(a) February: Annual Meeting, call for nominees
(b) Two weeks later: Candidates (with resume and statement) posted to online voting system, voting opened to RPS members
(c) One week later: Voting closed
(d) March: Conference call to wrap up old business
(e) April: Conference call with new and old officers, transition of office
