The Prevention Practice Committee develops ACPM policy statements
and position statements through a structured process using an evidence-based
approach. The PPC also develops ACPM policy statements on clinical preventive
services, facilitates ACPM member participation in developing practice
guidelines on preventive medicine with other groups, and seeks to encourage and
conduct research on practice guideline implementation. In addition to these
statements, which are aimed at practitioners and policy makers, the Committee
makes available to clinicians health education statements on important
prevention issues of interest to patients and consumers.
