Call for Board of Regents Nominations



ACPM is accepting nominations to fill upcoming vacancies on its Board of Regents. Elections will be held in early 2008 for Secretary/Treasurer; General Preventive Medicine Regent; Public Health Regent; Northeast Regent; Midwest Regent; and Southeast Regent. All candidates must be Fellows of ACPM. In the case of Regional Regents – applicants must resident in the region they wish to represent.

If you would like to submit a nomination or if you are interested in being considered for any of the vacancies listed below, please submit a nomination letter along with a copy of a curriculum vitae to ACPM Executive Director Mike Barry at mbarry@acpm.org,  or by mail to ACPM, Nominations Committee, 1307 New York Ave., NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC  20005, by October 31, 2007. 
 

Nominations are being accepted for the following positions:

Secretary/Treasurer – Two year term.  Responsible for the supervision of all activities of the College and for the financial transactions of the College.

General Preventive Medicine Regent – Two year term.  Serves as a representative for the GPM specialty area and shall be responsible for communicating with the members and member organizations in said field. 

Public Health Regent – Two year term.  Must be member of American Association of Public Health Physicians.  Serves as a representative for the Public Health specialty area and shall be responsible for communicating with the members and member organizations in said field. 

Northeast – Three year term.  Represents Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and shall be responsible for communicating with the members in said states. 

Southeast – Three year term.  Represents Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, Tennessee and shall be responsible for communicating with the members in said states. 

Midwest – Three year term.  Represents Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Kentucky, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin and shall be responsible for communicating with the members in said states. 
 

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service

  • Prepare for and attend in their entirety, semiannual Board meetings, ordinarily held in fall and in conjunction with the Preventive Medicine meeting. Expenses incurred in conjunction with attending these two Board meetings are NOT reimbursed.
     
  • Serve in leadership positions and accept committee assignments willingly. Active participation in at least one College committee is expected. 
     
  • Abide by the Constitution and Bylaws and policies of the organization. 
     
  • Represent the Board and the specialty in a professional manner. 
     
  • Identify candidates for Board of Regents elections and ACPM awards. 
     
  • Serve as a Mentor to other ACPM members via the ACPM Mentoring Program.
